Serving our God and our church through careful accounting of the Southeastern District finances is seen as a calling by Sid. In addition, finding ways to help our Congregations grow in their ministries is seen as a key component of Sid’s duties.

Sid comes to the SE District with a long history of financial budgeting and accounting – starting with the Air Force in 1976 and serving in various roles at base, Major Command Headquarters, as well as on the Air Staff and Joint Staff in the Pentagon. More recently he served as the CFO for 14+ years for Air Force Aid Society – the official charity of the Air Force. But perhaps most applicable to Sid’s current position is that he continues to serve as the volunteer treasurer / business manager for his church in Fairfax Station, VA (now 14+ years and counting).

Sid is married to Mary Larson-Heetland with three children – two who continue to live with them in Virginia, and an older son living in Iowa with his wife and 4 children. Sid grew up as a farmer in northwest Iowa and has been a life long Lutheran.
