A gift from you of any size can make an impact on the Southeastern District mission projects. Help us connect people with Jesus by supporting our mission efforts:
Preparing New Workers– Everyday people are saying ‘yes’ to God’s call to serve. Andrew, a public school teacher in enrolled in the Lay Diaconate program at Concordia-New York. He is being strengthened and equipped to connect a growing group of neighbors who meet regularly in his home. Falak, an immigrant from Pakistan is ready to be ordained. After 4 years, he has completed the pastoral ministry program for immigrants. During his time of preparing, he has connected hundreds of people to Jesus through conversations and Gospel sharing.Goal: To provide funding for 200 new workers like Andrew and Falak through theological and leadership opportunities. ($2000 per Lay Diaconate student, $30,000 for Pastoral study programs)
Urban School Scholarships - Lutheran schools are the front porch that connects neighborhoods to congregations. Schools in Lutheran churches are the front porch that connects neighborhoods to congregations. Schools in the metropolitan areas of Baltimore, Washington, Richmond, and Winston-Salem are serving families with the precious message of Jesus and a quality educational program. Many of those who would be well-served through these schools simply cannot afford the tuition. An 8th Grader at Bethlehem, Baltimore concluded a letter with these words “This school has saved my eternal life and the scholarship money may just save someone elses. To God Be The Glory!!!”
Goal: To provide scholarships for 500 new students to attend and complete their studies in urban Lutheran schools. ($5000 per student).
Ethiopian Ministry – A community of 300,000 Ethiopian Immigrants cover many neighborhoods in our district. The opportunity to connect them with the Living Lord is exciting. Already at work is Rev. Dr. Yared Halche who during the fall led discipling workshops with more than 1800 participants through the DC-Baltimore Metro area. Through his work, 9 new communities are taking shape and at least 4 more are emerging. Plans to engage this mission opportunity are filled with new mission starts, equipping leaders for ministry, providing start up grants.Goal: To provide funding for the resourcing of 15 new mission starts. ($10,000 per start).
Live Stream Ministry Grants - Multiplying congregational outreach, growing new communities, connecting with people right where they are, that is the strength of the ministry of live streaming. King of Glory in Williamsburg reaches an additional 90+ people. Last week they had connections from 37 states, and internationally to Canada, Norway, Qatar and Dominican Republic. A house church in India has begun as a result of the live streaming ministry.
Goal: To partner with 20 congregations developing live streaming ministries. ($3,000 per congregation)
