MD, Baltimore -Urban Ministry: LINC
Leader: Rev. Michael Johnson LINC (Lutheran Inter-City Network Coalition) Rev. Michael Johnson arrived in February to serve as the first director of this new mission effort in Baltimore city.
MD, Baltimore- Virtual Classroom @ Baltimore Lutheran School
Leader: Principal Alan Freeman Baltimore Lutheran is working through their technology department to offer online classes. These classes are available throughout the District. The vision is to enable a high school or school ministry to begin without building and full staff while offering a Lutheran school program http://www.baltimorelutheran.org
MD, Landover HIlls - Ethnic Ministry: Hipsanic Outreach Ascension

What do you do when you have more than 100 people respond to an English as a Second Language class? You give thanks to God for Mara Jeffries, Pastoral Assistant for Hispanic Outreach. Ms. Jefferies is serving to connect school, parish, and community to outreach opportunities with Spanish-speaking people. (http://www.alutheranchurch.com)
MD, Perry - Cecil County Mission
Leader: DCO Tina Jasion
This new outreach is a combined effort of Circuits 1 and 2. In working with the demographics of the area and through community research, the mission committee is considering beginning through a youth and teen outreach effort. Currently the mission committee is meeting and developing a mission plan.
MD, Silver Spring - Ethnic Ministry: Calvary Mekane-Yesus
Leader: Rev. Gugssa Biru
Rev. Gugssa Biru serves this mission that meets at Calvary Lutheran Church, Silver Spring MD. They have an aggressive distribution of tracks and flyers at local Ethiopian establishments in Montgomery County MD. This effort continues to bring first time visitors to worship services and other activities.
MD, Upper Marlboro - Urban Ministry:New LIfe at Concordia
Leader: Rev. Lloyd Gaines
New life through a new ministry in a current congregation was the starting point of this mission. Now New Life at Concordia also welcomes Cathedral of Joy (a second mission) at Concordia, Upper Marlboro. Both ministries are growing and reaching people who do not have a church background.

Leader: Rev. Brandon Martin Rev. Brandon Martin is the outreach leader of St. Stephen’s outreach to Spanish-speaking people.
NC, Greenville - Epiphany Lutheran Church

Leader: Rev. Keith Brown A modular building has been delivered. This mission congregation was able to start worship in it on August 17 with dedication on September 7, 2008
VA, Falls Church - Ethnic Ministry:Chinese Mission at St. Paul's
Leader: Rev. Mark Shaltanis The Chinese Mission at St. Paul’s is seeking to reach the 6th largest immigrant community in Northern Virginia. Last year, they had the honor of having Vicar Xiang Yang serve them. He returned to St. Louis for his last year of seminary. They are praying that God will lead him back to St. Paul’s to serve as the mission pastor of the Chinese congregation. (http://stpaulsfallschurch.org
VA, Leesburg - Christ Community
Leader: Rev. Douglas Davis Growing a new ministry requires the awareness and sensitivity of reaching the churched and the unchurched Now worshiping at new venue at the Old Isaac Walton Building! Worship services start at 10:00 am with Sunday School and Adult Bible Study at 9:00. Sunday School for all age groups will be held at the Leesburg Open Arms building and Adult Bible Study will be held at the Isaac Walton Building. www.christcommunitylutheran.org Leesburg Open Arms is a ministry of Christ. VA, Midlothian - Good Shepherd
Leader: Rev. Richard Carlton Mission Developer Rick Carlton is in motion with community activities, making connections, and gathering a core team to start a new mission in Midlothian VA. This mission is being birthed in partnership with Redeemer, Richmond VA and they are anticipating the first worship service in April. www.redeemerwestcampus.org/dnn Good Shepherd Child Developement Center Hoping to open doors in August 2009, the school ministry is at work promoting the Christian childcare that children will receive. Michelle McTague is the newly contracted director for the center.

VA, Northern Virginia - Ethnic Ministry: HIspanic Circuit Rider

Five congregations in Circuit 9 are involved in outreach efforts to the growing Spanish-speaking population in Northern Virginia. To facilitate an even greater effort, Circuit 9 congregations are partnering with Ablaze! For God’s Mission to call a Mission Developer for Outreach.
