Servant of Christ
At each Convention since 1984, individuals are recognized for their serving ministry. They are nominated by the congregations and a committee from the SED Board of Directors chooses 3 whose life has been one of serving Christ. There are many incredible servant leaders nominated by congregations and we give thanks for all of them.
This year we recognized with a Servant of Christ award:
Rev. Ralph Weichmann – Our Savior’s Way, Ashburn VA
Mr. Marvin (Bo) Wingate – King of Glory, Williamsburg VA
Ms. Sheila Edwards – Emmanuel, Asheville NC
Ms. Judy Koucky, St. Paul’s, Falls Church VA was recognized for her 39 years of service as District Archivist.
We also recognized two who received the St. Martin of Tours medal from the LCMS Ministry to the Armed Forces.
Chaplain R. Eric Malstrom, USN Lieutenant Commander (Ret.), Our Savior, Lynchburg VA
James Doebler, USN, Rear Admiral (Ret.), King of Glory, Williamsburg VA
Mr. Steve Heemann, who received the LCEF Art Haake Award
