District Staff Walking Challenge - 10,000 steps a day
Members of the SED Staff are participating in a 10,000 step a day challenge to complete a virtual walk from Emmanuel, Asheville NC to Risen Christ, Myrtle Beach. This is in part in response to Concordia Plan Services encouraging well-workplaces and the nurturing of good health habits.
The challenge is set to start Wednesday, August 22 and will take about 3 months to complete the 373 miles of walking.
10,000 steps a day is approximately 5 miles. This includes all the steps you take in a day - not just your exercising steps. Wearing a pedometer all day is an easy way to track your steps and it also encourages you taking more steps to get to your daily goal.
You are invited to join in the 10,000 step-a-day, 11-week challenge to walk from Emmanuel, Asheville NC to Risen Christ in Myrtle Beach SC. Along the way, you will learn about 6 District ministries and complete a 373 mile walk. All you need for this walk is a pedometer, a commitment to walk (or work towards) a total of 10,000 steps a day, and the discipline to record your daily steps. 10,000 steps may seem like a lot, but when you consider that every step you take during the day counts – it quickly adds up.
