Your Health Matters

SED President Bill Harmon

I had my annual physical in June. Seeing the doctor and hearing how things are going gives me peace of mind. I’d like to tell you that after the doctor looked through my blood work and finished his exam, he shared with me that I should be on the front cover of every health magazine because I am a pillar of health. He did not say that (this time), but I am pleased to share that all seems well.

Your health matters.

You are a unique creation of the Creator. We rejoice in the gift of medicine and medical experts who guide and assist us in caring for our bodies. Taking care of this gift is an aspect of our life in Christ. If you still need to, please make an appointment for your annual physical. This is an easy way to prioritize your wellness, take care of yourself, and serve as a witness to others that God has placed in your care.

In addition to my medical appointment, Gayle and I sat down with our financial advisor last month. This is not something I have always done throughout my ministry, and I wish I had started these meetings in my 20s, but it is never too late to begin.

Your health matters.

I don’t go to the planner because I have lots of money; I go because I want to pursue a financial future that allows me to honor God and enjoy the life he has blessed me with in return. Your financial health impacts other aspects of health and wellness. Being in control of your resources rather than your resources controlling you is good for your health. Having a plan brings peace of mind and provides a path for you to be a good steward of the treasure God blesses you with.

If you are not engaged with a financial planner, Concordia Plans has resources to assist you. I am happy to give you the names of some excellent planners who would gladly assist. Send me an email, and I will send you the information.

May the Lord bless you in all things. Enjoy your summer, and I hope you have some time planned to put your feet up, relax, and be rejuvenated.
