The Southeastern District is pleased to inform you that two new stewardship resources are available through the District’s website for absolutely no cost.

Give as You Are Blessed (Guided by the Tithe) is a three-week financial stewardship emphasis.  Jesus said, “It is more blessed to give than to receive” (Acts 20;35).  God created us in His image to be giving people.  We are His conduits through whom He provides for those in need, supports His Church, and expands His kingdom.  This grace-centered, Biblically-based material will not only help God’s people grow in the grace of giving but encourage some to take a leap of faith and excel in the grace of giving (2 Corinthians 8:7).   We are blessed to be a blessing.

Churches that offer Give as You Are Blessed (Guided by the Tithe) may also consider using the TEN for TEN Giving Challenge, which is a ten-week challenge designed to encourage people to grow in the grace of giving.  TEN for TEN stands for ten percent for ten weeks. During this challenge, some church members will:

  • Give regularly rather than haphazardly.
  • Start giving proportionately for the first time.
  • Increase the percentage amount that they give.
  • Start tithing.
  • Surpass the tithe.

The second stewardship package that you can access is titled Everyday Stewards.  This three-week emphasis helps people understand that God has called and given them a great honor to be stewards of His amazing creation.  As everyday stewards, we are not limited to a series of activities or good deeds.  Through the work of the Holy Spirit in Word and Sacrament, we become everyday stewards, who live a lifestyle of stewardship.  By God’s grace, we live as everyday stewards with a God-given purpose.

Both emphases are complete with bulletin messages, handouts, newsletter articles, power points, Bible studies, lay reader talks, videos, sermons, children’s messages, and worship helps.  Everyday Stewards also provides daily devotions.

These resources were developed by Ron Chewning, who has served for 25 years on the Michigan District Stewardship Committee of the LCMS.  He has authored two books, several Bible studies, and numerous stewardship programs.

You can access these programs immediately by going to the SED Stewardship Resource Page HERE.  Merely fill out the form and include the title of one or both packages above in the “Message” portion of the form and hit send.

I will be happy to send you the resources to your email address.
